IEP was the first entity to operate in this area, at the invitation of the Portuguese Institute for Accreditation (IPAC) and was also the first entity to be accredited as an Inspection Body for this sector.

In relation to show and public recreation venues, IEP is conducts scheduled yearly inspections of circuses, traveling bullfighting arenas, recreational sites, merry-go-rounds, bumper cars and other mechanical recreational equipment, as set out in Decree-Law no. 268/2009 of September 28.
